How to Clean Clams



Clams recipes are widely preferable seafood meal for a large number of people allover the world. Yet the process of buying, cleaning and preparing clams is not such easy to make it widely spread. Clams are known as filter feeders that filter the sea for finding their food, so usually we usually find sands and grits in them.

For buying clams you should:
• Pick the shells that are closed or slightly open to have the least amount of sand within.
• Avoid buying clams that smell bad or beginning to stink.
• Leave them for a while to rest before starting cleaning them.

Steps of cleaning clams are:
• Rinse and cover with cold water and set aside for about an hour to clean themselves from any salt, sand or grit in their bodies.
• Scrub the shell using a stiff brush under running water to get ride of any dirt.
• Finally place them in cold water and leave until cooking time.
