Repair Your Refrigerator at Home
The refrigerator is the backbone of any kitchen that is almost turned on all the time. So that it is important to know how to keep it working and avoid sudden break down. This would save you from paying large amount of money and lose you food.
Refrigerators and freezers mainly consist of:
- Condenser coil for cooling the refrigerant liquid
- Evaporator coil to which the liquid flows and be cooled
- Liquid coolant circulated through these coils by a compressor and a motor
- Other parts of the cooling system including: switches, thermostats, heaters, condensers, and fans.
Most of the refrigerators and freezers are no frost, which is an automatic process in which the thermostat produces heat for melting the ice and then return the temperature of the refrigerator to the required level. Sometimes you find that the no-frost refrigerator has ice, or put the food in the refrigerator for a while and then you find that it is not cold. This means that there is something needs to be checked.
There are some small problems that you can repair it yourself including testing and replacing some parts. While repairing your refrigerator yourself you should:
- Unplug the refrigerator or freezer before working on it.
- Discharge the capacitor, placed in housing over the motor, because it saves large amount of electricity and you may receive a severe shock.
After fixing the small things, there might be some sever problems that you must leave for professionals to save your refrigerator.
